Sims work on their own time from home, and level up after doing a certain number of gigs. The freelancer career functions similarly to skill careers in The Sims 3 in that there is no workplace. Sims dont progress through career levels but instead select an agency that helps connect them to individual gigs.

The EXP requirements for each level is N*1000 where N is the next level in the progression, for example 5000 for level for level 6. Truelancer is the best platform for Freelancer and Employer to work on Freelancer mods jobs. EXP earned from finishing matches (sans Mission EXP) also apply to the Freelancer Level, and is the means with which a player increases a Freelancer's level. Freelancer Levels are a Freelancer specific progression system, which allows the player to level up each Freelancer individually, earning rewards specific to that Freelancer as the Freelancer Level increases.
